You can download any public Instagram story for free with ClipsSaver — no login, no app, and no fees. Use the Instagram Story Downloader, enter the account's username (or paste a profile/story link), and ClipsSaver fetches the currently active stories so you can preview and save them as MP4 video or image files. It runs in any browser on your phone or desktop. Stories are only live for 24 hours, so this works only while the story is still posted on a public account.
Steps
- Open the Instagram Story Downloader in any browser.
- Type the public account's username in the input box (for example,
natgeo), or paste the profile URLhttps://instagram.com/username. You can also paste a direct story link if you have one. - Press the button to fetch. ClipsSaver loads the account's currently active stories.
- Preview the available stories — each one shows as a thumbnail.
- Click Download on the story you want. Video stories save as MP4; photo stories save as an image file.
- Repeat for any other stories you want from that account.
Troubleshooting
- "No stories found" or empty result — the account has no active stories, or the 24-hour window has passed. Stories expire and cannot be recovered once they're gone. Try again only while the story is still live.
- Nothing loads / private account error — ClipsSaver downloads public content only. If the account is private, its stories are not accessible. There is no workaround for private accounts.
- Story plays but won't download on mobile — your browser may block the save. Long-press the previewed media, or try a different browser (Chrome or Safari) and retry the Download button.
- Wrong account appears — usernames can be similar. Double-check the exact spelling, or paste the full profile URL instead of typing the handle.
- Asks me to log in or pay — it never will. ClipsSaver is completely free with no account, no credits, and no paid plans. If a page asks for login or payment, you are not on ClipsSaver.
- Quality looks lower than expected — ClipsSaver saves the file exactly as Instagram serves it; available quality depends on what the platform exposes for that story.
