How to Download Instagram Reels (Free, No App)

Last updated on Jun 22, 2026

Downloading a public Instagram Reel takes about 30 seconds with ClipsSaver. Open the Instagram Reels Downloader, paste the reel's link, and save the video as an MP4 straight to your phone or computer. It's completely free — no login, no app install, no account, no credits, and no fees. ClipsSaver runs entirely in your browser and only downloads public content.

Steps

  1. Copy the reel link. In the Instagram app, open the reel, tap the share (paper-plane) icon, then Copy link. On desktop, open the reel in your browser and copy the URL from the address bar (it looks like https://www.instagram.com/reel/XXXXXXXXX/).
  2. Open the tool. Go to the Instagram Reels Downloader at /instagram-reels-downloader.
  3. Paste the link into the input box. ClipsSaver fetches the public media and shows a preview.
  4. Click Download. The reel saves as an MP4 to your device. On phones it lands in your Downloads/Gallery; on desktop, in your browser's Downloads folder.

Want the audio only? Use the TikTok MP3 Downloader for TikTok sound, or grab the full reel MP4 above and extract audio with your own tool — ClipsSaver's Instagram tools deliver video.

Troubleshooting

  • "Couldn't fetch this reel" / no preview — The account is private, or the reel was deleted. ClipsSaver can only access public content. Fix: confirm the reel opens in a logged-out browser, then retry.
  • Wrong tool for the link — Pasting a feed post or story link into the Reels tool. Fix: use the Instagram Photo Downloader for posts/carousels or the Instagram Story Downloader for stories.
  • Lower quality than expected — ClipsSaver saves the best version Instagram makes public; it can't upscale beyond what the platform exposes. Fix: nothing to change — that's the source quality.
  • Region-locked content — Some reels are blocked in certain countries and can't be fetched. Fix: there's no workaround on our end; the platform restricts it.
  • Link copies as text, not a URL — You copied the caption instead of the link. Fix: use the share icon → Copy link, not "Copy caption."

Remember: download only content you have the right to use, and respect the original creator's copyright.
